GPS Insight
You may wonder about the term GPS. Perhaps you have come across the word before in colloquial usage, or you have seen it being used in a technology article. The first question in your mind will be, what is GPS? According to the Wikipedia definition: “The Global Positioning System (GPS) is the only fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Utilizing a constellation of at least 24 medium Earth orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals, the system enables a GPS receiver to determine its location, speed/direction, and time .” The use of GPS is very useful, especially if one wants to discourage car-theft or want to know where they currently are in a location that they are not familiar with. You may have seen spy movies or action thrillers from Hollywood which propagates the use of this device for their missions.
So have you used the GPS technology in your car ? I have not used it, as it is expensive. However, I have seen my brother used it in his car while I was visiting him many years ago at his home in Singapore. The GPS technology was not very good back then, but it does work effectively in determining your location via the satellites. Well, there is a company called GPSInsight which utilises the GPS Insight vehicle tracking system. Their focus is for companies which own commercial vehicles such as limousines or taxi cabs, in case these assets are stolen or lost. They have an extensive tracking system and using satellites as well as AT&T/T-Mobile, they are able to provide their end-user with a highly-accurate location of the cars throughout the US and Canada with a two-minute relay. That is a very impressive technology, indeed.
What are MFA sites?
Sometimes you will come across the following line in the directory guidelines when wanting to submit your site to a web directory.
Submissions will be rejected if your website is Made for Google Adsense (MFA) content only…
So what are MFA sites? MFA or Made For Adsense is pages that get traffic with the only purpose of getting others to click on there ad’s. The pages contain little information about one subject and on the top, before any relevant information is displayed you have a lot of advertisements, that most users will probably click on before they reach the few words of real content there is on this page. Some MFA sites advertise their services on Google Adwords and get a click from a user who is interested in the subject, and then the user is taken to a page where the MFA site display their own ads that has a higher pay per click then what the owner of the site displayed his ad for in Google.
Making a MFA site can be profitable for a short period of time, before either Google finds out that the page is spam, or when someone reports the page to Google. I would not recommend creating MFA sites. The same goes for any page that contain mostly affiliate links or sponsor ads. While I certainly do not mind if a page contains ads on it, it should be kept in mind that there should be more content then ads on every page.
